PAUL GALLAGHER was a kind, hard working man who never met a stranger. He was known throughout the Clifton Heights, University Heights and Fairview neighborhoods as well as Camp Washington and Over the Rhine as the "Tree Man. "For more than 50 years he planted trees in these communities leaving an extraordinary legacy for us and future generations that will sit under trees that he planted. Many of us planted with Paul, including many that have passed, John Wood, Truman Toland, Jerry Cummins and Dennis O'Brien among them.
This past year, Classen Park in Clifton Heights was re-named Gallagher Park in honor of his tireless efforts to increase the tree canopy in our neighborhood and city. There is no one more deserving of this honor. It is a testament to a man who simply loved trees-our very own Johnny Appleseed. We are all blessed to have known Paul and fortunate that he chose to live in our neighborhood.
In Paul's honor, I ask you to continue his legacy. Plant a tree and leave the world a better place.

We were Paul’s neighbors for a few years and he was always so kind. He had so much wisdom and was a pleasure to talk to. He was so sweet and carried out garbage can in every week.
Psalms 121:5
We love you Paul!

My buddy Paul. I have so many good memories of you from our many mornings counting collections at Sacred Heart. We would listen to Dixieland music (Paul’s favorite) and laugh because we would have to keep recounting the money because Paul would miss the $1 bill he had dropped on the floor! This would happen most weeks and became our running joke!
We also had a lot of heart to hearts that I will forever cherish. You were so much my friend and I will miss you so much. You were such a kind soul and during our walks around Findlay Markets and surrounding areas EVERYONE knew you and loved you. You have done so much good and made so many people smile. I am so thankful and blessed for having met you. I will forever keep you in my heart. I love you Paul. ❤️
